Sebastian Questa Elementary School

Sebastian Questa Elementary School is a new K-8 school for Lammersville School District.  The design approach was influenced greatly by the client's need to shorten traditional design and approval time by six to nine months.

To help meet this goal, BFGC-IBI Group adapted the design of several building types that have been approved by the DSA on prior projects.  New building types, most notably the Administration Building, provided the opportunity to set the design character of the school.  The exteriors of the buildings that are reused have been adapted to reinforce the design, creating a unified design theme for the project.

All buildings are organized around a central courtyard that has been designed to provide a variety of spaces that allow students to explore, play, learn, and perform in a safe and quiet environment.

Playgrounds and hard courts surround three sides of the building, and a neighborhood park that is adjacent to the school, reinforce the connection with the neighborhood and complete a design that considers every aspect of student development.
