Contra Costa College Technology Center

Description

This project consists of the conversion of an existing, one-story, steel-frame building into a new Center for High Technology. The 13,600 S.F. conversion provided functional and accessible spaces for computer labs, smart classrooms, conference rooms and offices. The conversion process involved complete gutting/reconstruction of all interior walls, ceilings, partitions, finishes and building systems (mechanical/plumbing, electrical and technology), as well as seismic retrofit work. There is a new 600 S.F. toilet building addition and related exterior courtyard/projects yard and landscaping improvements. Challenges: Converting an existing vocational, outdated shop-building into a state-of-the-art technology center. The existing building was unattractive to prospective students and users. A major overhaul of the building presented an upgraded image of functionality for the new Computer Technology Center. The building includes computer labs, offices, and smart Classrooms. Functionally designed for use of multiple departments both day and night.
