Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce
Description
Surrounded by historic and traditional character structures, the design concept of the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce was to be a traditional friendly design utilizing current technologies. The Buildings 6,600 S.F. of space utilizes symmetry, traditional forms, and implied detail to create a new structure in harmony with its neighbors and neighborhood. The central vaulted reception foyer fronts both on the street and parking, providing clear visible identity and orientation while creating the soaring interior lobby space. Functionally this space provides clear demarcation and support for executive, meeting and administration office functions of the Chamber. Selection of brick veneer, stucco, copper fascia and white window frames, utilize texture, color and detail to create the visual integration of new and old. Streetscape and design of the shared reception plaza utilize period inspired components to further enhance the unity of old and new.
